NHL FanHouse's Best of the Week: Anthony Stewart's Surprising Hat Trick

Every Monday morning Adam Gretz and Chris Botta will recap the best performances and plays that you might have missed from the previous week's action.

The Top Individual Performances of the Week

1. Anthony Stewart, Atlanta at Anaheim: The Thrashers forward had four goals in the first 104 games of his NHL career. On Friday night in Atlanta's shootout win over the Ducks, Stewart scored three. He scored his first goal just 17 seconds into the game and his second and third over the final eleven minutes of regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime. Atlanta general manager Rick Dudley made several high-profile additions to his roster in the offseason. Wouldn't it be something if this was more than just a career performance for Stewart?

2. Phil Kessel, Toronto at Rangers: Capping off his three-point Friday night in Madison Square Garden, Kessel scored at 3:08 of overtime to give the Maple Leafs a 4-3 win over the Rangers. Kessel was a threat for most of the evening, recording two goals on seven shots. His speed, his presence and the threat of his shot has opened up the ice for several of his teammates.
