The
NHL announced on Wednesday that
Vancouver Canucks forward
Rick Rypien has been suspended indefinitely for
his altercation with a Minnesota Wild fan late in the second period of Tuesday's 6-2 Minnesota victory. The incident occurred following a fight between Rypien and Minnesota's
Brad Staubitz, and as Rypien was heading down the tunnel to the locker room he became physical with a fan that was seemingly doing nothing but clapping his hands.
The fan was then moved to a new seat along the glass.
No decision has been made as to how long Rypien will be out of the lineup for the
Canucks, as the league will have a hearing to determine the final punishment.
