NFL Quarterbacks Picked Apart in Pass-Happy Week 7

Jay CutlerJay Cutler's favorite receiver Sunday was DeAngelo Hall. Drew Brees' was David Bowens.

And Brett Favre limped off the field at Lambeau, probably for the last time, after throwing three interceptions in the second half that helped bury his adopted Minnesota Vikings a little deeper.

Put them all together and you have a near-record week: nine interceptions returned for touchdowns, one short of the mark set in 2003 for a single NFL week -- with Monday night's game between the Giants and Cowboys and two pick-prone QBs, Eli Manning and Tony Romo, still to come.

The parade of pilfers was part of an NFL Sunday that again provided few clues as to where this season is heading.

In an era where every media outlet is its own BCS, "ranking" teams that are automatically "ranked'' by the standings, one of the consensus No. 1s, Pittsburgh, stayed as a one-loss team, thanks to a compromise replay ruling in Miami. But the Steelers lost one of their best defenders, Aaron Smith. Smith's loss last season was one reason the Steelers failed to make the playoffs, so that may be more significant than the "inconclusive fumble.''

But the interceptions still top the parade of impressions from Week 7.
