Cadillac Williams Not a Bitter Buccaneer During Emergence of LeGarrette Blount

Cadillac Williams has been pushed out of his starting job as the feature back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The last time a running back was pushed out of his spot this season in Tampa, there were hard feelings. Derrick Ward was cut and left in a huff.

Williams, however, is not bitter, but helpful, even after his best game of the season in the 31-16 victory over Carolina on Sunday. He is now a third down back because of his blocking and pass catching skills while rookie LeGarrette Blount is getting more chances with the run game.

"Things are really starting to come together," Williams told The St. Petersburg Times. "LeGarrette has stepped in and done a really good job, breaking tackles, getting looks. ... So it's cool.

"Me, I am a competitor. I would love to be out there and get more carries and put forth what I can do out there. But it is what it is. We're winning, we're 6-3, and it's just a pleasure to see these young guys out here playing, man, so it's cool. Whenever my number is called, I'm going to continue to do what I can do."

Williams finished with 62 yards on five carries with the bulk of the yards coming on a 45-yard touchdown run that sealed the win in the fourth quarter.

Did he whine for more time with the football and say "How do you like me now?"

No, he is staying within the framework of the team. It might be that when the passing game really gets rolling and the offensive line is settled, Williams will get more carries.
